My Natural Makeup Look

Rushing to get out of the house every morning usually leaves my face on empty. Not always from tiredness. In this instance, I mean with no makeup. I'm ok with leaving the house with no makeup on, honestly. I mean I have been doing it all my life, because I couldn't wear makeup to school, so there's that. But some days when I have to meet a client or just have a little extra time to get ready in the morning, I have a quick routine that has my face looking fresh and as close to my natural face as possible. So here's a step by step guide and a list of all the products I use to achieve it:

Step 1: Fill me up: Eyebrows.

I use an Arista eyeshadow single in the shade Matte Brown (available in Pennywise for $8.00 - $10.00 TT) and a very tiny angle brush and eyebrow comb/brush. I do not do anything super extravagant or do any shape that is not the natural shape of my brow and I only fill in spaces that aren't so full (with regular eyebrow hair). When my eyebrows are filled and on the account of I can't wear my glasses while doing my makeup, I have to clean up the lines with a concealer.

Step 2: Conceal and Highlight.

I use two concealers from L.A. Girl in the shades Almond and Toast (hey Koffee girl!). These cost $25.00 - $30.00 TT at various stores. I usually get them at Wonderful World. So the Toast is closer to my skin colour so I hide all my blemishes with this. I line my eyebrows and highlight my under eyes with the Almond which is a couple shades lighter than my skin. Some persons highlight after they've put on foundation but the reason I highlight before I put foundation on is in case I didn't blend it out too well, or any spot I miss could be hidden when the foundation goes on. You get me?

Step 3: From Foundation to Finish.

For my foundation, I use Revlon Colorstay in the shade Mahogany (440) and put that all over my face. Available at Pennywise for $70.00 to $80.00 TT. I also set my under eyes and T-zone, like my forehead and nose with the Sacha buttercup powder because my face is very oily. I know Petrotrin is closed but if the Government wants to set a rig up on my face, they could do so, LOL.

Step 4: Look into my eyes: Mascara.

I have a lot of different mascaras and use whichever bottle I throw my hands on, to  be honest. My eyelashes are very thin and I love to wear the falsies but the falsies do not love me back. Several times in my sleep they have fell off and I wake up with one eye looking like okurr and one eye looking like wtf happened girl?! I do not like to wear eyeliner, on the account of it always ends up in my eye. I have several bottles of Visine, ready for if I lose that specific battle.

On some days when I'm feeling goodt ("t" is intentional), I'll wear my fave eyeshadow from my Morphe 35K palette, which is a reddish brown, more brown than red.

Step 5: Set it off.

After all the blending and patting, I set my face with the Sacha Setting Spray ($50.00 to $70.00 TT depends on where you purchase it). I also add a little clear gloss to add some vibe.

For MY NATURAL look, I do not contour.

Date Night: Staying In Vs. Going Out

This is a short one! Don't forget Valentines Day is soon! I hope you have a great one filled with lots of sweet things. Such a day was created to tempt persons like me to steer away from our diet but i'm stronger than that. You will not defeat me this year sugar! It's quite possible couples may have a date night to celebrate Valentines Day and the restaurants will be filled. If you're into waiting for a table and you like going out much, then do you boo. But I prefer staying in. Basic, but whatever. I just like the whole idea of ordering the same food from your favourite restaurant (that you would buy if you go out) and having it in the comfort of your own home. Put the food on some nice plates, light some candles, throw some rose petals on the table, play some romantic music and have a nice dinner. You see it in the movies all the time and I know it seems corny and cheesy but have you ever had cheesy popcorn? It's a great combo! Ha! I really have t...

An Open Letter to Myself.

Wow! It's been a minute since I last posted on this blog and I am terribly sad that it took me this long to get back to something I truly enjoy doing. This entire time I was freaking out thinking what should be my first post for when I return? I didn't know exactly what to post and little did I know that the answer was sitting in my inbox for over one year.... I'm glad I'm back, though. I see Blogger has made some upgrades and what not. Anyway, back to why I'm here today. I usually send myself emails. I'm not sure if one would consider that as talking to yourself, but quite frankly, that's needed from time to time. And even if I was doing it for a while, it was confirmed as seemingly or somewhat normal when Golda Lee Bruce announced that she does it all the time, LOL. Phew! Anyway, let me just share what I sent myself, maybe me speaking to me will help you have the conversation you need to have with yourself. The subject of my email was "You'll Mak...

Dear Wanderlust, The Series Continues

" Travel makes you modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world, " - Gustav Flaubert. Dear Wanderlust, The series continues....... Meet Kelsey and her beautiful daughter! Last time your eyes were glued to this blog, you read about a daring, young woman who gave her life wings and travelled all the way to Spain from a tiny speck on the world map, known as Trinidad. Now moving there on your own is a whole experience in itself, but what if you moved with your immediate family too? Would that make you feel less homesick with them there? Let's find out in this interview with Kelsey, who moved to Vietnam - from Trinidad -  with her family. Yes, you read that correctly. V I E T N A M. 1. Location: Q. Where are you from originally and where did you move to? A. I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Trinidad and Tobago. As far as places to be born, T&T is as good as it gets. However, for a year now, my family and I have...
