When I'm featuring an individual or a business on the blog, I usually let them answer a couple questions before I actually write the article because I want to get a sense of the person/entity and what they/it stand(s) for. I absolutely adore when an entrepreneur is sure of himself/herself, his/her business and his/her brand. It’s refreshing to say the least. For features, this is the last question/instruction I pose: "Describe your business (history, background information, products or services and any other details you think are worth mentioning). Be as explicit as you would like".
Here's Ms. Natalie Howe's (owner of DÉ-COLLE-TÉ by Natalie Howe) response:
Natalie Howe is the Founder and Creative Director behind the name "DÉ-COLLE-TÉ by Natalie Howe", a lifestyle brand which specializes in fashion accessories made from printed fabric with an afro-Caribbean aesthetic.
“DÉ-COLLE-TÉ by Natalie Howe is the coalescence of a love for fashion and the arts with the crisp aesthetic of our cultural identity. It is the expression of a woman who is bold and unafraid to stand out, who is free to express herself effortlessly through her wardrobe choices and inspires others to extract the beauty of everything this life has to offer.”
While the brand is almost two years old, Natalie celebrated one year as a full-time entrepreneur in June 2019. She explains that during this time she has gained a better understanding of what drives her and her business and have fine-tuned her definition of success. She understands that her vision is not parochial, and she is a heterogeneous mixture of being a freedom seeker, legacy maker, opportunist and innovator.
DÉ-COLLE-TÉ champions the modern woman and her love of fashion and tailors its designs to this image. The mission is simple yet profound: "To inspire and connect with clients to put their best selves forward every day; to create emotional connections worldwide through inspiring product design; to make women feel empowered and walk in the essence of their cultural identity".
DÉ-COLLE-TÉ became a fashion accessory brand for retail exactly one week after the first necklace was created by its founder in 2017. She saw the potential value in creating pieces for persons to access and hence, with high levels of uncertainty on how it will be received, blindly produced a quantity to retail at a Night Market. This was done in one week following the first design.
“I saw the potential of a brand like this and I saw the need to answer the question that almost every woman asks. The business solved a problem. It’s the conduit through which local and handmade fabric accessories can be affordably accessed throughout the year and not just seasonally. The brand understands that fashion has evolved and hence speaks to a target market that appreciates that evolution; a market that is willing to juxtapose a little bit of culture within the ever-changing paradigm of fashion. The Brand has a distinct voice; one which speaks to the empowerment and upliftment of women, one which encourages women to be brave, bold and proud of their cultural identity. This voice is a magnet to many”, Natalie Howe.
“I get super emotional when I think about the experiences of this journey. What resonates with me the most is when persons identify with the essence of the brand, its message and its mission without my input.”
Natalie explains that she downloads divine inspiration and that keeps her motivated daily. She is thankful, grateful and humbled by the journey thus far. DÉ-COLLE-TÉ by Natalie Howe can be accessed at three locations in Trinidad and Tobago and social media platforms: Facebook and Instagram.

It's super commendable, the way she
is in tune with her brand and business and such a skill is necessary to possess
as an entrepreneur and this is why I posted her response as is. This can be an
example to so many young entrepreneurs who are starting off. When someone
approaches you - whether they're a blogger, reporter or customer and they're
inquiring about you, your products/services or your business - I pray your
answer is filled with the authenticity and confidence that Ms. Natalie Howe exudes.
